In other words, the valley is largely pristine. Much of the lower valley and surrounding hills are part of sprawling Riverside State Park, while much of the rest is in the Little Spokane Natural Area. It's the best hiking/biking/floating near Spokane. This gorgeous little valley laced with hiking trails and a five-star small river lies eight miles north of downtown, well away from I-90 and the South Hill intelligentsia, which is why few pay it much attention.
